In the hip hop world, when you speak of classic producers who made a mark you have to mention J Dilla. He was one of the music industry's most influential hip-hop artists and producer around. Even after his death in 2006, his music still lives on.
Today, I was listening to J Dilla's songs and I immediately recognized one song that he sampled from. Now, I know not a lot of people my age would have any idea who The Sylvers are. However, we here at crazy land like to educate you young bloods on good music (So what I am 21 years old. I am ahead of your damn time mentally. GET AT ME SON SON!) The Sylvers was a 1970s R&B/soul and disco family group that had many hits that your parents to this day "groove out" to. Though the song might be ahead of my time, I still love it and I see why J Dilla sampled from it!
Check out this blast from the past for today's Tuesday Groove. RIP J Dilla.
"Hi, My name is Meech, and I am a psycho" Hello world, My name is Mechell, but most of my friends call me Meech. I am a senior at Iona College. I am an aspiring publicist, looking to one day make my mark in the media world. I was dubbed the name "crazy" after having a couple of not so pleasant moments in my life, but what don't kill you will make you stronger (in my case, made me a tad bit kooky) On my site, I will explore the world through the eyes of an angry, opinionated, real, and somewhat rude woman. From music to television, sports to news, I will just say how I feel and if it is a tad bit rough, oh well. Please don't think I am a hater, in fact I am the total opposite. I just believe that it's better to tell the truth rather than make it so sweet that you might catch liabetes(lie diabetics, it a common trend folks, look it up). At the end of the day, all women have a little bit of crazy in them, I just don't care to show it :-)
